Kumudha Kumarachandran has been handling family law and child in need of assistance (CINA) matters since the start of her career. She is honored to represent military servicemembers and their families, and is fully committed to serving the needs of all of her clients.

In 2015, Kumudha was named amongst the "10 Best" by the American Institute of Family Law Attorneys. From 2017 through 2023, Kumudha was recognized by Super Lawyers as a Rising Star in the area of family law, an honor achieved by only 2.5% of attorneys. In 2017, the National Advocates selected her as one of their Top 40 under 40 in Matrimonial and Family Law. In 2019, Kumudha was elected as a Fellow of the American Bar Foundation. Membership in the Fellows is limited to one percent of lawyers licensed to practice in each jurisdiction.  In 2020, Kumudha received the Maryland Daily Record's Leadership in Law, Generation JD Award. Leadership in Law recognizes Maryland’s legal professionals for outstanding dedication to their occupation and to their communities. In 2021, the Daily Record added her to their VIP List, which spotlights the professionals in Maryland under the age of 40 who are making an impact in their fields. In 2023, Kumudha was selected as a Fellow of the Maryland Bar Foundation. In 2023 and 2024, Best Lawyers named Kumudha on their list of Ones to Watch in America.

Kumudha was selected by the Maryland State Bar Association as one of fifteen lawyers to participate in the Maryland State Bar Association Leadership Academy, a 12-month program that involves developing and implementing a public service project as well as attending events geared toward becoming a better leader within the legal profession. From 2015 to 2017, Kumudha served a two-year term as one of only five fellows of the Family Law Section of the American Bar Association. The fellowship allowed her to participate in nationwide family law legal education conferences and develop contacts with nationally known experts in family law.

After her fellowship ended, Kumudha continued her involvement with the Family Law Section of the American Bar Association. Previously, she has served as the Co-Chair of the Diversity Committee, Modest Means Committee, and the Young Lawyers Committee. Kumudha currently serves on the Military Law Committee. As part of that important role, Kumudha has lectured to attorneys from around the country on nuanced matters in military divorces including Survivor Benefit Plan aspect of military retirement division, TRICARE benefits, and military child support. In 2022, she had an article on the Survivor Benefit Plan featured in the Family Law Advocate, the American Bar Association’s nationally published magazine. Kumudha also maintained her involvement in the Maryland State Bar Association and presently serves as Vice Chair of the Alternative Fee Dispute Committee.

Kumudha’s proudest professional accomplishment is being co-author of the book, “Cost-Effective Child Custody Litigation”. The book is a guide for other lawyers on how to save their clients money so that they can use that money on what matters most, their children. The book has been added to law libraries across the country including that of Harvard Law and the Supreme Court of Maryland.
